Be selfish

17 Boring Rules of Money (That Actually Made Me Free)

I went from broke to financially free in about seven years.
And honestly, it wasn’t because I did anything crazy.
It was because I did a bunch of boring, simple things — over and over — for a long time.

Here are the ones that changed everything for me 👇

1. Pay Yourself First → Every time you get paid, move money into savings or investments before you pay bills. You’ll adapt to what’s left.

2. Never Finance Stuff That Loses Value → Cars, furniture, phones — if it drops in value the moment you buy it, don’t go into debt for it.

3. The $100 Rule → Wait 30 days before buying anything over $100. 9 out of 10 times, you’ll forget about it.

4. Live Below Your Means → Just because the bank says you can afford it doesn’t mean you should buy it.

5. Track Every Dollar → Wealthy people know where their money goes. Broke people guess.

6. Automate Everything → Bills, savings, investments. The less emotion involved, the better your results.

7. Drive Boring Cars → You’ll look average. But you’ll quietly build wealth while everyone else makes payments.

8. Avoid Impulse Buys → If it’s not on the list, it doesn’t go in the cart.

9. Create Over Consume → The less you consume, the more you build. Start creating.

10. Focus on Earning, Not Just Saving → You can only cut so much. But your earning potential? Unlimited.

11. Treat Savings Like a Bill → Set an automatic transfer and forget about it.

12. Value Your Time → Trade money for freedom, not more stuff.

13. Choose Friends Wisely → Hang around people who talk about ideas, not impulse buys.

14. The 10/10/10 Rule → Before you buy, ask: Will this matter in 10 days? 10 months? 10 years?

15. Be Consistent, Not Clever → Wealth isn’t built from big wins. It’s built from boring habits done daily.

16. Do an Annual Money Detox → Go one month with no unnecessary spending. You’ll reset your habits fast.

No 17. Think in Decades → Compounding doesn’t reward the impatient. It rewards the consistent.

It’s not flashy. It’s not overnight.
But these “boring” rules built me a life I don’t need a vacation from.
